Action Welfare (AW) is a not for profit organisation based in the United Kingdom, dedicated to changing lives of those less fortunate. We are a family organisation which originate from humble backgrounds. It has always been an ambition to be able to bring happiness and change into peoples lives, and this is only the beginning.
Breaking the boundaries.
We have decided to opt for a creative approach for our first project. We plan to provide unique and futuristic solar powered lights to thousands of people who live without any lighting. Our first target country to receive these lights will be Bangladesh (BD). The percentage of electricity connection in BD is as low as 37% among the poorest quintiles. Providing light to these rural communities will enhance education of children and improve the quality of life. Most families have no choice but to use kerosene lamps in order to complete basic tasks at night. not only is this expensive, but kerosene is harmful to peoples health, harmful to the environment and dangerous. Studies have shown household exposure to kerosene have been linked to increase the chance of impaired lung function, asthma, cancer, and increased susceptibility to infectious diseases such as tuberculosis.
Ignight is the name of our first project since starting Action Welfare. The ignight logo will be branded on all our bulbs and lamps. It will cost around £15 to provide one bulb per household. Each package consists of 1 LED bulb with a rechargeable Samsung battery & a solar panel which will be mounted outside with the 3.5m cable. On a full charge the bulb can power for 7 hours, and provides a life of 50,000 hours.
